Construction Begins on King Hussein Bridge Public Transport Station at a Cost of JD 2.6 Million

The Ministry of Transport said that the relevant authorities have begun the actual implementation of the King Hussein Bridge Public Transport Station project, with excavation work underway at the site, a temporary parking area being prepared for vehicles crossing the bridge, and the main entrance road being separated with barriers to facilitate the movement of project machinery.

The ministry said in a statement that the work is being carried out in coordination with the relevant utility service providers, including water, electricity, and telecommunications companies. The project is expected to be completed within 12 months, by August 2027.

The project, launched at a total cost of JD 2.6 million, is being built on an area of 17.5 dunums adjacent to the border crossing. It aims to reduce traffic congestion at the bridge crossing and provide integrated and comfortable services for arriving and departing travelers.

The project includes an integrated parking system comprising 138 spaces for medium- and small-sized buses serving the bridge, 87 spaces for private cars, including two designated for persons with disabilities, two spaces for tourist rental vehicles, and four spaces for charging electric vehicles.

The project also includes several air-conditioned service and administrative buildings equipped with solar power systems, most notably a two-story administrative and commercial building covering 1,300 square meters, featuring a waiting hall, prayer room, commercial shops, and administrative offices.

It also includes a dedicated drivers’ rest facility, a traffic control building, and a tire maintenance station, in addition to various shelters for passengers and users.
